Wood-Ridge is about 28 acres large and has approximately 7,700 people living there. It was first established in 1897 from about 200 acres of land. Some of the other parts of that land went to Lodi, Hasbrouck Heights and Wallington.
Wood-Ridge borough officials and mayor set up time every Tuesday from 6-8 pm so that the townspeople can come in a let the mayor hear some of their ideas and concerns.
The borough has a Senior Center where they hold daily activities and trips for the seniors. There is also a Contemporary Club and a sixty and over club. There are many places of worship for many different religions.
Wood-Ridge has two elementary schools and one high school. There is also a private school.
The fire department was established in 1897 and has been a part of the borough for 103 years. The department has about 42 members and all have training in emergency services as well.
There are many other organizations in the borough for your enjoyment. Clubs such as the Lions club, Contemporary Women’s club, the girl scouts, the boy scouts and the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign War.
Wood-Ridge has many recreational programs for children of all ages. Some of the programs include indoor soccer, outdoor soccer, football, cheerleading, wrestling, golf basketball, softball and summer recreation.
